Weather is horrible, cold, dark and just plan creepy. It seems though that something is watching me creeping towards me calling out to me to be its friend. It's giving me the creeps and I don't like the looks of this new camp of mine. Despite the obvious camp sensory being terrifying and commonly used for ghost tales R.L. Stine succeeded with this novel; “The Curse of Camp Cold Lake”. R.L. Stine creates a series of books called Goosebumps to give you a bone-chilling experience.
This book just yells out suspense. When you think of camps normally you would think of scary, and mysterious. Camp cold lake is just strange starting with the lake and of course most camps lakes are gross but this one is just weird, and the history is sinister and slimy. Camp stories are uncanny, but all true. Long ago there was a camper Dalle, who had drowned in the lake, and has taken an interest in Sarah. Dalle is taunting her appearing in her ghostly self, telling her to be her friend, and trying to get her to kill herself. “The Curse of Camp Cold Lake” describes a story of a girl and her creepy adventures at her new camp. Not only is the main character in depth with her ghost but she also has problems with friends.
This is similar to the book “Speak” by Laurie Anderson because she wrote a book about a struggling girl. Sarah the main character in the book “The Curse at Camp Cold Lake” and Melinda the main character in the book “Speak” both start out with the main characters struggling to find friends. They feel they have no reason to be where they are. Sarah is at a camp for athletes, which she has no interest for, and Melinda is afraid to go to high school because what had happened at her summer party. Both book have their similar and differences. More of it is similar like having no one to talk to and then later on in the book they both gain friends in the end. Even though they both have different type of story it seems both have the same problems besides the ghost but they do have something following them haunting them and they just can’t get it off their mind.
This book was fantastic, and it is worth any ones time. This book is filled with shocking twists and mind blowing adventure, this book is the scariest in the series giving great vivid description and a spin chilling story. This is one book that you would love and remember from every book you read it sticks out in my mind and it should in your mind as well.
