Alone again no sound, no light , no nothing. I'm stuck in this stupid basement until my parents return from their five day vacation. Most people think that being home alone is fun, and my brothers are always saying that I am lucky that I don't get to go to school every single day. Although it sound horrible the way the talk about it, I want to go, I'm not even aloud to go outside any more. All eight years of my life stuck in this house. I will be here my whole life rotting in this hell hole; I need to escape. In the book " Among the Hidden" by Margaret Haddix she created a world with many challenges in life that would seem impossible to life by. Margaret created a uptight government with many rules and laws, and a family with many problems and secrets. One of the main two laws in the novel is no family can have three children. Another main law is the government tells you what to plant, and what to do if you life on a farm. This family life's on a farm has three children and are on the verge of collapsing. With new homes coming in, new problems and troubles are gather as well. This is a very realistic book, with government rules and laws.
Among the Hidden is has a very realistic government styled story; its just like the country China's government style . Both the book and the country have many rules, telling the citizens what they can, and can not do. In Among the Hidden they shut down soda factories, chip factories and every thing that is unhealthy; although that is good for you, imagine the government taking all of you sweet delicious food away, you would never be aloud to eat or drink anything that doesn't make the governments standards that’s how what Luke and his family have to deal with every day of their lives. Sometimes if you are a farmer they make you sell and buy animals even if these animals are your pride and joy, your money tree, they will make you sell it weather you like it or not. This government is mean and strict government with many laws, and rules. Another law that applies in the book as well as real life you can only have a certain amount of kids. Although in China you can only have one child, in the book there is limit to only two children. These laws have been a struggle to get by in Luke's family, the population police are now starting to get suspicious about Luke and his new friend Jen for being the third as they call it, and they are having to sell their money making hogs. Many people might like this type of government type but it's a hard one to live by because one slip up and you are in the slammer or on the kill list. Just as the government style in the book as well as in real life so is Luke's life is very realistic.
Most kids think that their lives are so awful and they might be, but they don’t match up to Luke's life. Imagine a whole life being alone without any of your friends and not being able to have a sleep over or even a birthday party. Some people might have bits and pieces of this life style but they don't have the whole thing. Yes some people are poor, some people might not have any friends but one day they will, but for Luke, he will have to live ten more years in that house not going outside and having any friends. Imagine that would be going from kindergarten to ninth grade with out any friends no one to talk to besides your family, never leaving the house, not doing anything besides hiding. If this was my life, no way would I like having a part in it. This would be like living in hell. No where to go, no malls, no television, no video games, no computer and this is part of everyone's daily life. Not having any of this many kids wouldn't make it; through I know that I wouldn't be home alone, with the power off for two hours would be horrible enough but ten more years would be dreadful.
This life style would be just be horrible. I can connect to a little bit of this story but I'm only alone for awhile and I need someone besides my family. Then having this evil government tell you what to do would be horrible. It actually sounds scary. The family describes the government as evil and , strong. Right now this is the best life that I could ask for. During this life I don't want to give my freedom up. This story is a dystopia, a dreadful, life sucking experience.
